I have added several new links to my website. YACCS is the provider for the new commenting system (as I lost my spot with BlogBack when I switched templates). Bored.com is an excellent website for the ultimate procrastinator or those truly bored. I won't describe it in detail as I already posted my thoughts on its educational purposes on Darrell's website back in late December. But the last and certainly most entertaining website is Despair.com. I can't adequately describe the humor packed into this place. They feature Demotivators (a new twist to those elegant motivational prints) and BitterSweets (for those who enjoy getting candy hearts but not the sappy messages such as "B MINE" and "PAGE ME"). There are some other humorous gift items on the site as well. Even the descriptions are written in a cynical, witty manner. Definately check this site out!

Well, I've updated the site quite a bit, including a new template and commenting system. Hope you all enjoy!

Highlight of the Day: today they put up the artist list for the Inside Out Soul Festival at Loon Mnt. this August. This concert weekend thing is sooooo incredibly awesome! It's four full days of camping, heat, swimming, concerts, fun, speakers, awesome music, fun, friends...well, you get the point. I'm just psyched cause the two best Christian bands in the world are going to be there: Five Iron Frenzy and Superchic[k]. Most people can't stand that kind of ska/punk kind of music, but...well, I'm not like most people. So ya, if you're in the area and you have the chance, go to the Inside Out Soul Festival. It's an amazing experience.

"When it rains, it pours."
Man were they ever right!

So I'm thinking of changing the color scheme (etc.) again. Unfortunately BlogBack is down again...but when/if it ever comes back up again...what do you think? Yes? No? Color suggestions?
On a totally unrelated note: I'll be back in the fun-tastic "bubble" of Grove City in just one short week! New semester, new classes, same great friends...oh ya!

Why is it that the things you feel most sure of--the decisions that you just know are the ones God wants you to make--are always the toughest ones to follow through with? Trusting that God knows what's best for me in the long run always seems to involve giving up what I think would be the best for me right now. I guess that's why I still have a lot to learn.

Well for my first post of the New Year I was going to write how I had made the resolution to stop procrastinating. However, it's already January 9th...so much for resolutions.
Last week I had the great opportunity of substitute teaching for the 4th grade at Concord Christian School. This was an absolutely amazing experience! Aside from an occasional aid popping in to give me a break, I was basically on my own. For those of you in the student-teaching process, you know what a cool thing that is! I did not have the pressures of being evaluated or the boredom of sitting in a desk observing someone else teach. Instead I got hands-on, pressure-free experience! Yeah I made mistakes, but I was able to cope with what I needed to do to fix them. There were 22 students in my class. We studied everything from multiplying double-digit numbers to diagramming sentences to learning about the weather to reading stories. I even got to teach some of them division for the very first time! Have you ever thought about how hard it is to teach something that comes so natural to you now? They were definitely a rowdy bunch, so I also got my share of discipline practice in. All in all, it was a good experience and I'm glad that I was able to do it. On top of getting paid, I also got a great picture of a snowman with "to Miss S." on the top from one of my students. I'm sure I sound like such a nerd saying all this, but it was so exciting for me to be able to put into practice what I am learning in school. And as much as I loved being with "my kids", I know that I am definitely not cut out to be an elementary school teacher. There's no way I could keep up with them all year! I'll take Shakespeare and a bunch of hormone-crazed teens any day! (And for those of you who love to tease me, yes I did spell-check this post)
