Monday Makeover

Well, I decided after four years, it was time for my poor blog to get a makeover. In addition to a lovely new color scheme, I've updated to Blogger's latest bells and whistles. So the old comments are lost since I switched over to Blogger's commenting system. But I can also add pictures now, which is oh-so-exciting.

Life has been very busy lately, and not just with website upgrading. I had two killer tests last week, which pretty much stole away five days of my life for studying. But tomorrow's my last day of class before our shorter "spring" break and I'm definitely looking forward to that!

This past weekend I was in Ohio for an InterVarsity conference. I love going to these conferences for so many reasons! The speakers are usually very interesting, I've gotten to meet a lot of cool people from other chapters in the area, and it's a great time to bond more with my IV friends. The theme for the weekend was learning to embrace multicultural and multi-ethnic differences as well as learning how to reach out to become bridge-builders for racial reconciliation. Although it's easy for me to say that this isn't a very applicable topic (seeing that NH and GCC are both about 97% WASP), God showed me the importance of dealing with these issues whether or not there are obvious applications now. I've also been seeing how many ways the concept of multiculturalism can be applied besides just racial and ethnic differences. There are so many factors that make a person or group of people unique and we need to be sensitive to the ways we interact with one another. All in all, it was a good conference.

Of course, in addition to the serious things I learned, I also had a blast getting away from school (especially after that killer week) and creating new memories with my wicked awesome friends. Some of the highlights include:
  • discovering a Starbucks on the OH turnpike
  • staying up till 2 a.m. both nights
  • mob rushing our photographer and adopted chapter member, Eli
  • getting bitten (or gnawed on) by Rach
  • massive chapter tickling/pillow fights
  • the noncompliance stick...need I say more? (why do other chapters think this makes us violent?)
  • naptime! (free time, chapter time...it's all good nap time!)
  • another infamous dance party, this time courtesy of Jesse's gheto-blaster
  • random surprise visit by Jesse and Monty, cookies included
Well, the list goes on and on, but unfortunately my time for procrastinating my reading can't. So it's back to the books for me! And if you're reading this and you want to add any fun memories, feel free. (For those of you who weren't there, I suppose you could make some up or tell me about your weekend).

Today's post has been brought to you by the letter C and the number 25. Tune in next time to hear about my adventures up north!
