Well here I am, back at Grove City. It's good to be back in the Bubble and to see all the familiar faces. It seems so strange to think that only one year ago, I was one of these timid, wandering freshmen. I was the one getting my shirt signed at the graffiti dance; I was the one trying to spot a familiar place in the cafeteria; I was the one wondering "who the heck am I that GCC accepted me?! These classes are impossible and everyone else here is brilliant!" ...oh wait, I still think that. But in any case, one year has made me a "wise-fool", or upperclassman. I don't know who society has placed so much pressure on me, but here I am! It's a brand new year and I'm definately ready to make the best of it! So no more sentimental-ness. This year is going to kick butt (as well as kick my butt!). So stay tuned for the latest escapades from the Superchic[k] room!

"Not Waving but Drowning" by Stevie Smith
Nobody heard him, the dead man,
But still he lay moaning:
I was much further out than you thought
And not waving but drowning.

Poor chap, he always loved larking
Andnow he's dead
It must have been too cold for him his heart gave way,
They said.

Oh, no no no, it was too cold always
(Still the dead one lay moaning)
I was much too far out all my life
And not waving but drowning.

Have you ever thought of where you were exactly one year ago? This has definately been a growing and reflective year for me, and it's interesting to look back at all that has happened. In some ways I have changed so much, but in other ways I am still the same person I was a year ago.

IOSF
For those of you who have never experienced a Christian concert festival, you have no clue what you're missing! This weekend was so incredibly amazing! The Inside Out Soul Festival is a 4-day concert series on Loon Mountain in the heart of the White Mountains in northern NH. This year included over 125 bands/artists, 5 stages, a seminar series, and thousands of people gathered together for one purpose: to glorify God and have a great time doing it! I camped on-site with 6 of my friends from school and/or church. We had a great time hanging out by the river, with our new friends & camping neighbors, the boys from Houghton, trying to cook on our pathetic excuse for a stove, and taking turns getting "butt-booty naked" in the tents (don't ask). I also saw a ton of people I knew from my high school, college, and other places, so it was a great place to catch up with old friends. And of course, the concerts were awesome! I saw very few bands that I didn't like. Thursday I saw Relient K, Rebecca St. James, Newsboys, and then hit a Rave in one of the buildings around midnight. Friday I went to worship in the morning, saw Superchic[k] (my all time favorite band) give a kick-butt show, then checked out Jennifer Knapp, Toby Mac, and Relient K again (I think they've made my top 5 bands list as well). Saturday was Moongroov (which they actually played their last show because they're switching some people and restarting as Mercury Switch. The lead singer sounds like Incubus and they have a POD sound....interesting). Then I checked out this band that started from Houghton called Ready for Monday. They were really good and I'm definately getting their CD too. Eklezia was okay. In the evening I endured 2 songs of John Reuben only because one of our "neighbors", Tom, likes him and everyone else wanted to hear what he sounded like. Needless to say, he was as lame as I remembered (although his music is okay for rap). But after him was the Supertones & Delerious?, both of which were good. Sunday we were all so wiped that we didn't make it to many concerts (and there really weren't any worth seeing). I did check out Pillar, which was very similar to POD, and very good as well. And I heard Switchfoot from the river and tried to see some of Skillet, but they were late starting. All in all it was a great weekend full of fun memories and lots of hilarious inside quotes.
